For the Miami International Boat Show (MIBS), Sunbrella initially engaged us for a straightforward pull and ship with light refurbishments to existing properties. After the initial space plan was discussed, the scope shifted. The client introduced a new priority: bringing their Sun Deck awning concept to life on the show floor.

The challenge was immediate and the goal was clear. We needed to pivot from minor updates to full fabrication planning within a compressed timeline. Create a physical environment that accurately represented the full breadth of Sunbrella products and elevated brand visibility at MIBS.

Sunbrella provided a mockup of the Sundeck, and our role was to translate that conceptual rendering into a fully engineered, show-ready structure. We began by collaborating with estimating to evaluate multiple build options, balancing impact, feasibility and budget. This allowed us to present the client with practical pathways forward while protecting both timeline and cost.

Once direction was approved, precision became the priority. We worked closely with Sunbrella to ensure accurate color matching across materials, aligning vinyl and painted finishes to their Beaufort striped fabric. Maintaining brand integrity was critical, particularly for a product-centered activation. We partnered with a client-approved vendor to fabricate the custom awning cover and a 10-by-15-foot structure using the official Beaufort fabric, ensuring authenticity in both materiality and appearance.

Budget considerations required thoughtful decision-making throughout the process. We identified opportunities to reuse an existing counter provided by the client, which helped allocate resources toward high-impact elements such as the awning fabric and a custom yellow cabinet designed to highlight the Sundeck product. Flooring solutions and finishing details were carefully considered to ensure the space felt complete and intentional, despite the accelerated schedule.

Quick approvals and clear feedback allowed fabrication to proceed without delays, supporting a seamless execution under time constraints.
